Barack Obama - Real Diversity
"In the end, that's what this election is about. Do we participate in a politics of cynicism or a politics of hope? John Kerry calls on us to hope. John Edwards calls on us to hope. I'm not talking about blind optimism here the almost willful ignorance that thinks unemployment will go away if we just don't talk about it, or the health care crisis will solve itself if we just ignore it. No, I'm talking about something more substantial. It's the hope of slaves sitting around a fire singing freedom songs; the hope of immigrants setting out for distant shores; the hope of a young naval lieutenant bravely patrolling the Mekong Delta; the hope of a millworker's son who dares to defy the odds; the hope of a skinny kid with a funny name who believes that America has a place for him, too."

I don't know who this guy is, and I sure as hell won't be able to remember his name, but he gave a great speach. Take notes fellow dems.
Why didnt Eric Fingerhut, a state senator from Ohio give the speech? Or another state senator or another Democrat running for US Senate? Hmmmmmmmm
I find Obama refreshing - he is educated, hard-working, and putting Illinois on the map as a breeding ground for up-and-coming politicians. Not to mention, he compensates for our state loser otherwise known as Jack Ryan (notably, a Republican). Also nice to hear Obama attribute success or failure to character, as opposed to ancestry or circumstance, like fellow Democrats Jackson and Sharpton. I suspect Jackson and Sharpton are a major reason why most Republicans feel that Democrats are a loathsome, self-pitying party.
Maybe the reason Eric Fingerhut didn't speak is because his campaign couldn't afford the flight to Boston.
