UPDATE 2: US has stepped up with a real contribution. It will go a long way to help the devastation. Sadly, any person with logical skills knows this contribution was, in part, given because Bush didn't like looking like a dick. Also, all of us know that the horrific delay by Bush to respond or seem to care at all, cost the American people a chance to gain some good will. Too bad.
UPDATE: That is half the amount that France ($57 million )and Spain ($60 million) each. About 1/3 the amount of the UK ($95 million).
That is "all the money the US can afford to give" for the 100,000 Tsunami victims.
That is how much money Dick Cheney made from Halliburton in 2000.
That is at least $5 million less then Bush is spending on his inauguration party. (by the way what are they spending so much money on.....I hope Bush is drinking again)
My calculator will not compute how small of a fraction that is compared to 'liberating' Iraq.

That's a really impressive post that puts things in perspective. Your math is good too, but I'll give you a heads up that any conservative is going to come back and challenge your statement, claim that we will inevitably give more money to the victims, that Bush was playing golf, whatever excuse most conveniently serves their purpose.
Will the Chief Source cover any part of the inauguration? or be part of any organized protests?
for the record, the current aid that is being given is 350 million, not 35 million, and the number will rise. start making new calculations with the right number.
I called my Congressman Sherrod Brown's office in early December to check on getting tickets. I have yet to be contacted back. I have heard a piece on NPR that said that the demand for the tickets have been through the roof and that Congressional offices have been getting tons of requests. My guess is that the tickets are going to donors and rightfully so because Democrats like Sherrod Brown need to do everything they can to hold onto their seats.
For the record, I think it is clear I made this post when Bush was being a disgusting/stingy leader and only pledged $35 million (only raised from because of pressure....and then raised to a real, normal figure after we were a world-wide embarrassment)
And the main point of the post stands....we embarrassed ourselves (via president bush) by such a sad and pathetic initial response.
That sorry president only has gotten w/ the program because he looked bad....there is not much doubt.
