Latest Polling Memo From Democracy Corps

The latest polling (released yesterday) from Democracy Corps (Carville, Greenberg) shows Democrats are loosing on core voter concerns to Republicans. Their polling memo, which I suggest you read if you are a political junkie, shows polling data taken just before the Schiavo case really began to dominate national headlines. There is also some interesting polling that shows in a hypothetical race Bill Clinton beats George W. Bush 51% - 46% and Hillary Clinton beats Jeb Bush 50% - 47%... again these are pre-Schiavo numbers. The end of the memo gives arguments why Democrats are poised to move up. I hope so! Republicans ask "What Would Jesus Do" and Democrats ask "What Would James Carville Do." Carville ran the Clinton campaigns and having read most of his books I like the man and his message.

There is a strategy in place by Democracy Corps in releasing these polling memos. Carville and company know that polls drive media coverage and the message used by Democrats in Washington. If they get ahead of the story they can help shape the coverage. Schiavo, Tom Delay, the social security debacle, and steroids are taking the wind out of the Republican's sails. Now Democrats need to capitalize... as usual. Still, things are looking up. Go Democracy Corps Go!
