Thorough or Annoying?
It seems I have spent the last 2 weeks talking about guns or Schiavo. I am going to try to wrap up Schiavo in this post and get the guns thing out of my system later in the week.
The media has been disgusting in this coverage of Schiavo. There now appears to be a sick countdown to death going on. Every time I read the news its: "11 days without feeding tubes." They might as well bring in Dick Clark and drop a ball (bad joke, but seriously, that is what they are acting like). Now that the legal recourse is over, I think the media has the responsibility to backoff. They backed off reporting on the stolen 2000 election after Gore conceded, so why not here.
Okay, so here are some other freaking amazing twists. Kyle mentioned yesterday in the comments, that Tom Delay is the biggest hypocrite on Earth. Delay has been hootin' and hollarin' (he is from Texas) about how this is murder. I guess Delay murdered his own Dad, because Delay made a decision similar to Michael Schiavo by denying his Dad dialysis 17 years ago. Remember, Delay also said "God delivered Terry to him, so he could rally the Republican base." He is a sick man. Anyone that supports him makes me sick.
But my favorite story is about Scott Heldreth. There was a widely, nationally published story about Scott and his son Joshua Heldreth, 10, on Sunday. Scott and Joshua have been leading protests. Scott is a leading voice against abortion, and now Schiavo. Joshua was even arrested for how crossing a police line during the protests. He said Dad had inspired him. Dad said "God's with me." The AP story made the 2 out to be some sort of heart-warming-tale of father and son. PROBLEM: Dad's a registered sex offender. The problem was easily discoverable, yet was completely omitted. Well, at least Dad was just encouraging his 10-year old son to get arrested at the protest.....now we know he could have treated his son like a guest at Neverland.
