Frustrated with the oversimplified, rigid LEFT-RIGHT spectrum of U.S. politics? If so..this site is for you: Politicalcompass.org offers an easy, quick on-line test forcing you to agree or disagree with tons of fun statements such as:
1. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
2. People with serious inheritable disabilities should not be allowed to reproduce.
3. All authority should be questioned.
4. In criminal justice, punishment should be more important than rehabilitation.
5. An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.
6. A same sex couple in a stable, loving relationship, should not be excluded from the possibility of child adoption.

At the end they give you a score and a rating on a 2-dimensional political grid (with a thorough explanation). Damn good stuff.
Before you go out and get that political party tattoo, go check this out. It might guide you to enlightenment. [da-dum-dum]

I thought it was curious that all of the recent political leaders were identified on the authoritarian side. I don't think that is true.

Anyway, I was 3 right and 3 down.

Well, everything is relative, eh?
Riddle me this Batman:
Where would you rank yourself on a scale of 1-10; 1 being 'poor', ten being 'rich?'

Well....Who exactly is five? Is 10 the richest man in the world and 1 the poorest?
(Then that would put me at about a 1.7.) Or is five the average? What average? Americans? Above what age? And so on and so on...
Point is, I don't think your position (or those of the recent leaders) in regards to the X and Y axis is really all that important. And being one tick above the X axis doesn’t mean you should get a subscription to Authoritarian Monthly. I think the placement of the X and Y axis is just a matter of personal opinion. Move it up if you like.

However, the position of the points in regards to one another is what makes it interesting...and the idea that the political spectrum might be a political plain, is great food for thought.

What would be really telling would be to see where the average self-proclaimed Republican scored and the average Canadian and the average welfare recipent and the average baby boomer etc. Then you’d really have more perspective.

Still, it is a good tool to get people to reevaluate the political landscape.

the okcupid site also plots where people landed on by the way they voted in 2004. and also famous people. I'm between Hillary and Gandhi :) At least I think that's Hillary.

why would anyone care what an anonymous person got, when we don't even know who you are?

Then again, I don't know if anyone cares about what I am, but I came down as the same as Gandhi. Seems good to me.

While we're sharing, I came down at 2 down, 2 left. I think I expected this, but why am I so close to the center? Does this means I'm well balanced, or just consistently conflicted in opinion?

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Soon I will be posting a big, pretty grid with all the points of those test-takers on it (as well as reveal my score) So if you haven't taken this test or you have and you didnt post your score in the comments...get on it! See where you stand in relation to the ChiefSource staff.
