No More Apologies

Karl Rove said some a--hole comments about Democrats last week. He just called Democrats cowards and mocked Dems post-9/11 reaction. Rove said: "Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war. Liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers."

Well, the comments are obviously inaccurate, because Dems voted nearly unanimously to go to war in Iraq. So then a bunch of Democrats were demanding an apology. Honestly, I think all this apology demanding (on both sides) must stop. Everyday, there is a new demand for apologies. I am pretty sure the use of the word Nazi or Hitler is automatic apology time. Last week, all the Republicans were screaming for an apology because Senator Durbin (R-IL) referenced Nazis in regards to US treatment of prisoners. If you actually listen to what he really said, in context, it wasn't really bad, but Republicans went nuts. Durbin did apologize, and cried while doing so.

Well, all I know is that I cannot take this stupid apology game. I am sure it annoys the general public and wastes so much energy. Democrats need to take the high-road on this type of stuff and instead of calling for apologies, they should attack back with facts. Point out the Republicans hypocrisy. Show outrage that Rove misrepresented the Democrats as anti-Afghanistan, when Democrats resoundingly supported the invasion. When someone says the dreaded "n-word" (Nazi), just point out that they have made more Nazi references then Democrats in the past year, instead of just succumbing to their demands for meaningless apologies.

By the way, I don't think its really accurate for Rove to say the Republicans "prepared" for war. Preparing may have resulted in catching Bin Laden!
