Karl Rove Is Having An Affair?

As if Karl Rove doesn't have enough to worry about these days...
"For years, political insiders in the Lone Star State have whispered about Rove's close friendship with lobbyist Karen Johnson, a never-married, forty-something GOP loyalist from Austin, Texas. The two first became close when Johnson sat on the board of then-Governor George W. Bush's Business Council over a decade ago."

"Their friendship reportedly deepened after Bush appointed Johnson, a little-known spokesperson for the Texas Good Roads Association, to a seat on his Transportation Department transition team in 2000. The plum appointment enabled Johnson's lobbying firm, Infrastructure Solutions, to snare such high-paying clients as Aetna and the City of Laredo. Sources say Johnson now frequently travels between Washington D.C. and Austin, where she frequently appears at Rove's side at parties and unofficial functions."

"Although there is no evidence that their relationship is anything but professional, the close association between the married White House aide and the comely lobbyist has long raised eyebrows in conservative Texas circles. Asked about the pair, a prominent political journalist who has written extensively about Rove says, I've heard the stories, but I would never write about Karl and Karen. If you want to keep your job as a reporter in Texas, you make believe you don't see them together.

Not news.
Democrats can't get mad about when they crucified Clinton for his extra-marital affairs and then make a big deal about this type of stuff.
Honestly I prefer that these two are boning.
It leaves Rove less time to plot against the American people.

Come on now Bob... This is Karl Rove we are talking about here. He is the guy who scared people to the polls in 2004 to "defend the sanctity of marriage." Don't you think it would be a bit hypocritical if he was cheating on his wife?

Now hold on a second....

Asking voters to "defend the sanctity of marriage" is certianly an appeal to emotion, not an appeal to fear. You can hardly call that a scare tactic.

For some reason that I don't understand, conservatives hold the "family unit" very dearly, but in the same way, democrats Appeal to emotion when they talk about old people eating dog food while arguing for Social Security.

Liberals do not believe it is the governments business to define what it means to be a family, and conservatives don't think it is the governments business to give us "social security"

Secondly, what is the big deal with labelling people hippocrits?
It does nothing to further anybody's arguement. I guess maybe if you are liberal there is some entertainment value to this, but as Hewitt said: "Not news."

jeff,

appealing to one's emotions can also be an appeal to fear them as well. Fear is an emotion, therefore, they are are one in the same if you know what i mean.

Yes, an appeal to fear is an appeal to emotion, but an appeal to emotion is not necessarily an appeal to fear.

A rectangle isn't a square, either.

I don't think Rove's statements are an attempt to incite fear, but rather anger.

I only point this out because I think an appeal to fear arguement (vote or die, or just about every one of Bush's defenses for his PATRIOT act) is even more dispicable than an appeal to anger.

Fortunately such emotional arguements cannot work on me; I'm already angry.

Justin is right!

These sleasy arguements are working, and the true colors of the majority of americans are coming out!

That is why it is so important that liberals stop pushing for a "living breathing," lossely interpretted constitution.

That document is all you have between a responsible government and a government that tramples our constitutional rights and ignores the limitations placed on its powers. The constitution and its meaning must be kept seperate from politics, as should the supreme court that protects it.

It doesn't help that hillary's "sensible center" are the people who really decide who gets to be in office. (see Red Thursday) The least informed voters decide close elections.....

Here's hoping for some Reagan style blowouts in the future.
