Clooney Agrees: Liberals Are Out Of Touch
Republicans always rip people in Hollywood for being "out of touch" with mainstream America. George Clooney agrees. During his Academy Award acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actor, Clooney explained: "we are a little bit out of touch in Hollywood.....it's probably a good thing.....we're the ones that talked about AIDS when it was just being whispered, and we talked about civil rights when it wasn't really popular......this academy gave Hattie McDaniel an Oscar in 1939 when blacks were still sitting in the backs of theatres. I am proud to be a part of this Academy, I am proud to be part of this community, and I am proud to be out touch." I agree. If being for social progress and equality makes a person "out of touch," then I very proud to be out of touch.
Otherwise, there was no other highly political moments during the Academy Awards. Crash won best movie, which means Brokeback Mountain did not. Crash was good, but Brokeback was better. The thing about Crash that I could never get over was that dumb part where Sandra Bullock's character tells her maid how she was Bullock's best friend. That was way more unwatchable then the gay love scene in Brokeback Mountain.
Highlight of the Night: I watched Three 6 Mafia's performance (the Oscar's first ever rap performance) of "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp." It was a bit edgy, but not too noteworthy. Then, right after their performance, the Best Original Song award was being given out, which Three 6 Mafia was nominated for. Well, Three 6 Mafia, who were standing just off the side of the stage, won. They immediately RAN back on stage and just kept yelling stuff - including thanks to Jesus (the only Jesus reference of the night, I believe) and props to George Clooney for being their favorite actor. They were so much more happy then any other winner. When they cut back to Jon Stewart, he could not stop laughing - that was clearly the funniest moment of the night.

Additional Note: The main reason I watched the Oscars was because Jon Stewart was the host. His performance was a bit disappointing. He was fine, but I expected better. Plus, his one Dick Cheney joke was not funny. He also did not even mention Bush. I understand that he cannot be overly partisan as host, but I still expected a lot more political humor.
Either way, all my comedy needs were fulfilled by Three 6 Mafia. If you missed it, you need to find a way to see it.
Jordan "Juicy J" Houston (Three 6 Mafia) said backstage: "I had to run somewhere. I started to run somewhere. People thought the police was probably chasing me somewhere."
your desire for brokeback mountain to win shows how gay and out of touch you really are.
Actually Chuck, another "jesus" moment was when Rachel Weisz walked up on stage. I said "jesus" outloud to myself.

Some underappreciated lyrics from Sippin on Sizzurp...
"I'm trill workin the wheel
A pimp not a simp.
keep the dope fiends higher than the goodyear blimp.
we eat so many shrimp
I got iodine poisonin'
F--k n-gg-z make me sick
with all dey pinchin' and bargainin
You say that you's a boss
I ain't believin' that sh_t
You got the funny Geneva watch
with the Ferrari kit
Take that monkey sh_t off
You embarrasin' us
I got the red promethazine
green, orange, and yellow 'tuss...
Genius... I'm not kidding.
