Bush's Housing Secretary has admitted that he unethically/illegally favored Bush supporters when granting contracts. It seems obvious that this goes on, but it is still remarkable that he actually admitted the favoring of Bush-supporters happened. What is most offensive about this story, is that now that the story has been revealed, Bush & Company have issued the guy a vote of confidence. This a-hole should be fired for his obvious ethical/criminal violation.....but I guess that stuff doesn't matter to Republicans.
Obama '08? I didn't think it was possible, until he recently turned up at an event in Iowa.
The Bush Administration's own National Intelligence Estimate has concluded that overall terrorist threat has grown since the September 11 attacks. Way to go Republicans! If they stay in control for 6 more years, just think of how much more terrorism Republicans can create!
Bush is going to host talks on "Borat" (Sasha Cohen's HBO character) with the the Kazakhstan government today. There is a whole Borat movie coming out later this year. I am very excited. I just hope Bush doesn't screw something up and cause me to not see this movie.
More Borat: I just read this funny article about how Borat was denied entry to the White House yesterday. He wanted to invite "Premier George Walter Bush" to a screening of his upcoming movie. Also invited to the screening: O.J. Simpson, "Mel Gibsons" and other "American dignitaries."

Knowing that everything BushCo has done so far has made us less safe, and has increased the threat of terrorism against America and our troops, why would anyone vote for the torture bill that just passed both branches of Congress? I am disgusted beyond belief.
A modern-day warrior
Mean mean stride,
Todays tom sawyer
Mean mean pride.
Though his mind is not for rent,
Dont put him down as arrogant.
His reserve, a quiet defense,
Riding out the days events.
The river
And what you say about his company
Is what you say about society.
Catch the mist, catch the myth
Catch the mystery, catch the drift.
The world is, the world is,
Love and life are deep,
Maybe as his eyes are wide.
Todays tom sawyer,
He gets high on you,
And the space he invades
He gets by on you.
No, his mind is not for rent
To any God or government.
Always hopeful, yet discontent,
He knows changes arent permanent,
But change is.
And what you say about his company
Is what you say about society.
Catch the witness, catch the wit,
Catch the spirit, catch the spit.
The world is, the world is,
Love and life are deep,
Maybe as his skies are wide.
Exit the warrior,
Todays tom sawyer,
He gets high on you,
And the energy you trade,
He gets right on to the friction of the day.
Beltway Blindness
Its because Congressmen are in the belly of the beast - influenced by so much propaganda (eons more than we civilians are)and low/down lobbyists.
I too was surprised that Brown did a yea on it. Maybe there is more to the bill than we are aware of...??????
In any event, History will now record that not only the President of the United States has officially endorsed TORTURE and suspending Habeaus Corpus....But that the US Congress has licked his boots on the same.
Sad, Sad, Sad....Now our soldiers must think : "What high ideals do we now now fight for?"
Sorry if this seems off-topic. I think it relates to the overall terrorist threat being raised by BushCo's actions.
Follow this link for Sherrod Brown's explaination of his vote. I cannot even express how disappointed I am. As you said, Petey, what ideals do we have when our leadership condones torture of human beings? I don't care if those humans are from America or Afghanistan, torture is wrong. Everyone who voted yes on that bill should have to go and watch the effect of their vote. See it happen. Then tell me that this will help us win the war on terror.
I read the link. Unless I am being occulted by the true outcome and effects, I think Brown believes that he did the best (maybe v Bush's power) that he could do under the circumstances.
Its also very, very hard to believe that ex-military such as McCain would advocate anything BUT the Geneva Conventions.
I must say that MOST active GI's are FOR all the Geneva Conventions because this PROTECTS for what Bush advocates.
For my old, tired mind - this is just another example of us existing in an ant-matter universe.
I hate to say it, but he had to make that vote. he is too close to victory. he cannot do anything to setup Dewine for some manipulative, fraudulent commercial about how Brown is "weak"
Terra, I think Chuck nailed it
Yeah, because only I (and his other supporters) think he was weak on this vote, and we're certainly not going to run a commercial against him. Good thing Americans vote based on commercials - so good people are reduced to bad votes. (cynic)
He won't lose votes among D's because he is the best overall, but I just hope he gets what he wants.
anythingtowinanythingtowinanythingtowinanythingtowin....
Sherrod Brown's a power hungry hack. This vote proves it.
I am not a big fan of Ali G, but Borat clearly very funny
Borat is brilliant.
I agree that Brown's vote was necessary election year politics. Disappointing, but necessary.
Why is BUSH talking to Kazhikstan about Borat?? Are these the 2 biggest idiot governments ever? This is an ENGLISH citizen, born and raised in the UK. They are going to have talks about him?? What are they going to talk about?? How funny he is?? What a bunch of f'ing idiots.
