BFFs: Murderous Saddam & The Republicans

There is a nationwide curfew, as fears of rioting exist after the verdict is announced in the Saddam Hussein trial. When Saddam Hussein is found guilty of murder, consider that the trial was a sham that embarrasses any sort of real legal system, according to most people involved. But more importantly, please never forget he is being convicted of murders from 1982. So this is what he is so bad for - murders in 1982.

Interestingly, years later, Donald Rumsfeld met with this murderer. Rumsfeld supplied the weapons he used in his murders. In 1988 (6 years after the murders of this sham trial), Rumsfeld proclaimed restoring Iraqi-US ties was his greatest accomplishment. And then Bush 41 attempted to befriend Saddam in the late 1980s, despite his genocidal tendencies. So when you here Republicans boasting about his conviction, NEVER FORGET THAT BUSH & COMPANY WERE FRIENDS WITH SADDAM AFTER HE COMMITTED THE MURDERS HE WAS CONVICTED FOR!!!!!!!!

And what a coincidence that the verdict is being announced two days before the midterm elections - just in time for Monday's headlines. In fact, the verdict was supposed to be revealed on October 16th, but the date was mysteriously changed.....and by mysteriously, I mean the Bush folks that run Iraq intentionally changed the verdict date to coincide with the US elections.

UPDATE: Saddam guilty - sentenced to death by hanging. This story is dominating the headines, even more then I expected. President Bush said it was good day for Iraqis. Bush made no comment on the possible hanging of his father or Donald Rumsfeld for their aiding and abetting of Saddam's genocidal tendencies.

Note: Bush 43 did not have any direct ties to Saddam in the 1980s, because that is when he was abusing alcohol and cocaine.

Thank you Chuck for pointing out the timing of the conviction, no one else is.
I don't think it will change things, in peoples minds Saddam was always guilty anyways, right??

if the Saddam verdict changes one vote I would like to meet that person. Saddam was just misunderstood and if he did anything wrong it was because of U.S. policies, therefore he is the victim. Hey, arent we all victims?

seriously, suppporting Saddam in the past appears through the self rightous mirror to have been criminal. However, that is the way it works in the real world. Correct, no but the failure to choose the lesser of two evils at any given time can create a worse result. If one wants to protest this behaviour why not oppose current behaviour. Just look at China and their general foriegn policy and their actions throughout Africa. They do not care about anything but increasing their access to raw materials and expanding their influence. If we want to oppose a particular foreign policy this would be the best place to start

it doesn't change votes, but it riles up the republican base - it makes them feel less shame for scandalous war.

and we can throw our hands up and say "that's the way it is", OR we can reject this crap. we can reject Rumsfeld and Bush who supplied Saddam. And we can reject the enablers of communist china. and we can reject all the hypocrisies. or we can just throw up our hands and say "that's the real world."

i guess that is what you have to do, if you want to justify support of Bush & Company.

in this case the real world worse result was enabling Saddam to thwart the growing power and militancy of Iran thus attempting to create some balance of power between two dangerous forces.
