Bush Administration Ends Hunger!

In 2005, roughly 35 million Americans had difficulty feeding themselves in 2005 and of those some 10.8 million went hungry. Good news America, those 35 million Americans are no longer hungry!

How did Bush & Company do it? They no longer call people hungry. This is sort of like Ronald Regean claimed ketchup a vegtable, or how Bush wanted to claim fast food jobs were "manufacturing" jobs.

Thank goodness for compassionate conservatism. Now, according to the Bush Administration, 35 million Americans only have "very low food security."

Unrelated: Tony Blair recently called Iraq a disaster. Then he said he didn't. He is lying. This just reminds me that I don't want people from the UK talking crap about the US. They re-elected Blair, which is just as unacceptable as Bush getting re-elected.

don't you ever take stock of things and reach the conclusion (even if only momentarily) that the world is a good place and your anger and "outrage" are a little over the top?

ever?

and kyle:

it's obvious that you take this site seriously and want it to be seen as a legitimate source of information. aren't you at all concerned that chuck's constant demagoguery makes some people who might otherwise take you more seriously think this site is little more than just a silly little hobby for a couple of generation x'ers?

Anon-nothing productive to say, just more paternalistic comments, and nothing of substance. Maybe your little world is good, what are you some baby-boomer who feels their age grants them some sort of insight that others don't have. Until you put yourself out there and say something of substance, why don't yuou leave the politics and world issues to people who do care. I don't agree with Fred-but at least he says something and takes a stand. You serve no more purpose than tits on a boar.

You got me anonymous! This post is not the most important story in the world! However, it is funny, and a way to bring up the fact that 35 million Americans cant get the food they need. But I am just an jackass for doing that. You nailed me!

Kyle, I beg you not to fire me. I promise to be mind-numbingly boring from now on, as to please people that successfully use the word "demagoguery" in a sentence.

Chuck and these persons who write this site do so to provoke some thought on the issues.

Chuck a demagogue??? - NO, if you think he is one you have never seen one.

The worst situation is the one that the US just went thru for about 6 yrs - voter apathy and unconcern. I think this website counters that and does much good in that respect.

Too bad you are offended so easily but thats life, my pal.

Chuck, just absurd. Leave it to the Bush Administration works the word "security" into an issue like this.

Anonymous, I think this post is a perfect example of why people read our site and why Chuck continues to be an excellent contributor. The internet is a vast place with millions of sites for you to go if you don't like ours. Finally, calling me a generation x'er is out of line. I am in generation Y.

kyle,

a fair point. it's true, everyone has a choice when it comes to whether or not they wish to read your site. i happen to actually like your site, disagreements on politics aside.

but i suspect that, even if only occasionally, chuck's wild claims and incoherent rants make you wince from time to time. of course, how you run this site is completely up to you. but if you want it to be more than just a place where like-minded people come to whine and compete over who can hate republicans more, you should really consider re-evaluating chuck's role.

anon, i have backspaced my pissed off response. i don't really care what you think.

I guess the truth hurts - and the truth must be that you are a republican that suffers extreme guilt from your sad support of things like the disgraceful War in Iraq, or Bush's Katrina response.
That guilt must be overwhelming.

chuck,

mea culpa. i won't comment on stuff you post anymore. i'll just say that constantly expressing rage and hatred for opposing political points of view and the people that hold them has never passed and will never pass for legitimate political discussion. if the point of this site is to promote legitimate political discussion, it's hard to see how your contributions are helpful. nothing personal, nothing against you, just an observation.

the funny thing is that it seems you're capable of contributing something more thoughtful than you have chosen to. you obviously pay attention, you're obviously engaged in the affairs of your country. why wouldn't you want to offer more than "so and so is a racist" and "so and so hates poor people"?

Kyle and Chuck.
Anon does have a point. If the purpose is to discuss the issues to educate and motivate people you wont succeed by calling people names and making childish arguments. Intolerance and derision used to be a conservative trait but sadly it is now one of the hallmarks of this site. Yes, you can tell him to go elsewhere but at some point your site becomes nothing more than what he suggested "a place where like minded people come together to whine..."

I am unable to determine exactly when Generation X ends and Y starts. The range seems to be between 1979 and 1982. Apparently it is left open to interpretation.

chuck,
you are always right on. i'm sick of this bs that we are not supposed to be enraged with what is going on in our country. this administration is destroying the greatest nation in the world and the republican lead house turned our congress into a racket. we have a right to not only offer solutions but to complain. there is nothing wrong with hating terrible, evil people.
anon. - this site obviously supports chuck and even takes into account your opinions of him - notice chucks new(ish) banner?

1) this post did not involve rage and hatred. mocking the decision to quit using the word hungry does not involve rage or hatred.
So you are instantly wrong in your criticism of me.

2) thanks tim.

3) all this criticism is stupid. sorry, i know i should be above simplistically calling stuff stupid, but that's how i feel. i make strong claims for 2 reasons:
a) i am just trying to grab attention to an underreported story.
b) because i am legitimately pissed - i.e., Katrina-type outrage.
if you don't understand this, then this website is not for you.

i am open to criticism (for example, if i don't call out a democrat tom delay, please let me know), but these other claims is dumb.

i guess i will just be flattered that so many people seem to care about my opinions.

"chuck's wild claims and incoherent rants"

"i'll just say that constantly expressing rage and hatred"

I have heard all nine yards of bullshit in my life and none of your statements descibe Chuck's comments.

He takes a stand and effectively expresses his opinions. This is in the realm of the "American Way"

Believe me bud, the persons who are as you describe as " expressing rage and hatred" would usually be the ones icapapable of expressing such destructive traits ====> unless with a magnum up on the water tower for instance.

You sound like you may have been homeschooled in the Neocon Academy of Character Assassination.
