Protesting Escalation In Iraq
Joined by politicians and US troops, 100,000 Americans marched in DC this weekend, protesting the Iraq invasion and Bush's plan for escalation. The DC rally was the big one, but cities nationwide also held protests.Dennis Kucinich was on of the few Congresspersons in attendance. I must laugh when I here people argue that he does not belong in Congress. If not for Kucinich, who would be speaking for the millions of Americans that want this war to stop immediately?

Back to back posts on Kucinich. A first.
agreed, at least he puts himself out there. unlike others in congress.

Bless those who protest war - without them - we would be at war constantly.
I, personally could not march beside Jane Fonda. She committed treason when she gave aid and comfort to the enemy in North Vietnam. Somehow, I think she may have tarnished the good actions and intentions of the honorable persons who marched.
But still, there is a time for all things and I believe that it is time for protest.
May God help all to return home safely to their families - ASAP from Iraq
sometimes i wish there was still a draft just so more people would give a shit. i don't think our govt would go to war on bullshit info.just for the record i don't think there should be a draft but you get my drift.

Hillary is going around saying that the troops should be out of Iraq when Bush leaves office. I think they should leave when the job is done. It will only be finished by engaging (not bombing) Iraq's neighbors. I just don't like Hillary at all. She voted for the war when people like me - no ones - knew it was wrong. Now she realizes it was a bad decision to give Bush the authority to wage an open ended "war on terror"?
I love the statement a peaceful protest makes. No one's listening, but it's a good statement.
Terra , Hillary gives my the creeps too. I am not so sure exactly what it is but ist somehwere in the vicinity of slippery politicians ----like more of the same, i suppose.
D,
I definitely wish there was a draft for the very reason you said.
the level of actual protest is really too low. my own lack of participation included.
I was in DC today. I encountered some of the stragglers who were still hanging around. They werent all peaceful and were disrupting business.
I mean to say all of them werent peaceful, but most were. I have heard alot of ugly stories from Saturday - both sides at fault.
no i meant to say "not all of them were peaceful." ok i think i got it this time.
