Ohio State Is An Embarrassment Edition
Last week I mocked and ripped Notre Dame for being exposed as frauds. So in fairness, I must point out that the Buckeyes are a fraud. The worst thing is that we could play that game ten more times and we would lose every time. It was shocking. Last night I was mostly speechless. Today I am more angry. We suck. How could I (and everyone) be so wrong about them?
I blame Tressel. Everyone wants to love him so much, but he sucks. He cost us a championship last year by playing Zwick in the Texas game. This year he totally embarrassed the state of Ohio. The team didn't even show up. It is a disgrace.
I just want to warn everyone to save their money next year. Our schedule is really easy so we probably will win out - and we will get crushed in the title game (in New Orleans).
Also, the entire venue in Glendale, Arizona is terrible. Worse than expected (the bar was already low). All the ATMs ran out of money. There was nowhere to go to the bathroom. There was no where to buy food.
Florida fans were good people. And there were more of them than I thought.
There was one highlight of the night. I called my friend from The Keeler Report, knowing he agreed in blaming Tressel. He summed up Tressel's failure: he is Youngstown trash. I am still laughing at how funny that is.

I watched the game from outside the stadium. Then had a 50 foot TV set up where thousands of people watched the game. I am very thankful that I didn't waste money on going to the game.

Cooper could've gone in there with Bellasari and won that game. it was nice that everyone else go to see how bad Laurinitis really is - chasing plays from behind, getting blown off the ball, and getting interceptions off of tips does not a great linebacker make.
last night was the most embarrasing loss in ohio state history
Going through the thought process that every Buckeye fan has went through in the last 24 hours I think are biggest problem was our strenght of schedule. We played nobody this season besides Michigan and that got our team too comfortable.
I think it's important to point out that Florida is a good team. Yes Tressel got out coached and looked foolish going for it on 4th down on your own 30, and our award winning linebacker got ran over two a few times by their QB but give Florida credit.
I really feel bad for Troy Smith, he never even had a chance and was running for his life the whole game.
The weak Big 10 made us look better than we were. USC would have killed us. It was the most humilaiting OSU loss I remember, i would say dating back to the 28-0 loss to UM in 93.
Tressel alltime Youngstown trash. Nice work without Coopers players. Wisconsin would have beaten us too this year.
Anyways, this is fine with me because it makes 2002 when i was there that much better.
Too long a layoff between games - destroyed momentum
Too much food over the holidays eaten by a team of amateur and decent young men who succumbed to hearing "You are NUMBER ONE" over and over and over and over.

New year - new season - OSU's/Tressel's new lesson
It seemed like we had zero preparation for Florida and allowed them to play a perfect game. Our inability to adjust to their offensive circus and defense that seemed to have 15 men in the box every down was so frustrating.
That said, I still love Ohio State football.
No- they had 49 days off last year before the ND game. This time it was 51. That can not be an excuse.
Also, ND scored 14 points, but they had two offensive touchdowns, unlike OSU who couldnt even get 100 yards of total offense.

really - today - fuck you guys. what fucking absolute bs you guys are spewing from your mouths. OSU this year was one of the greatest teams ever. they played their absolute worst and florida played their absolute best. florida prepared much better and called much better plays. i watched OSU all year and atleast 4 florida games. leak isn not a better qb than smith and florida wouldn't win ten out of ten match ups. god am i sick of hearing that repeated. there is no excuse for such a humiliating loss but the buckeyes don't suck all of a sudden and tressel is 10 fucking times the coach cooper ever was. fuck you stupid fair-weather fans. get real.

And Ben - its the combination of the factors combined with the layoff - in other words a Team that sat around for 50+ days hearing that they were "NUMBER ONE" and beacame fatheaded and just plain fat! Did you see how FAT and outa shape that some of them looked?
& mainly, Florida fired on all cylinders - but potential v pontential, not as good as OSU but tough shit &&&& too bad because the gridiron is where you prove otherwise.
Cmon you guys, I am pissed beyond Trafalmadore TOO but not damning Tressel/OSU/ THE LORD etc....You guys will feel better soon as all the fatty acid ethyl esters leave your livers.

I just want to commend Chuck for being honest and balanced today. I did not expect it and I do respect it. OSU got killed and Troy Smith did not look anywhere close to the best QB in the nation.
good point on the days off Ben but obviously our strength of schedule caught up with us...Tressel got a lesson in coaching 101.
I just want to clarify that I do think Chuck is honest, I just didn't think he would rip the Buckeyes like that. For the record Notre Dame sucked this year also. I can also admit it.

florida is a great team. and we were beat by a great team. but the problem is, i know think there are about 8 teams that are better than us.

i heard an interesting theory that blames ESPN for the hype, because they have a contract with the Big 10, not SEC. Its true. I think Gameday only went to one SEC game.

how can all you fools say the sec is that much better... did you forget that this was the only win against the big ten this year in bowls. simply stated the buck were too confident and didn't prepare. how can meyer through reciever screens all day and the bucks not adjust. and for our offense, the only drive we scored on we ran the ball. i'll take pitman and wells running over smith scrambling any day. the coaches were unprepared and the players were overconfident. florida showed up and we didn't osu is a much better team than they seemed last night. Sour grapes. Big ten football is some of the best in the nation. I will always follow and support Ohio State football because that is where I went to school. This same commitment has kept me a Democrat since 2000, despite difficult losses.
Chuck, I just looked at Ohio State's 2007 schedule to try and formulate a comeback to your point. It is a terrible strength of schedule. 3 MAC teams!!!!
The level of competition in the Big ten has went down while the level in the SEC has went up.
I love Ohio State, but the SEC is a tougher conference to run the table on....just ask Florida.
Florida deserved the win, Tressel deserved to get outcoached and OSU deserved to be outplayed.
Hopefully this will give them motivation for Youngstate state, Akron, and Kent State. I can see one Mac team but 2 MAC teams and a DII team?!?
I'm with Kyle - serious sour grapes. Some people are missing the forest for the trees, and somehow thinking this one game defined *everything*.
The Big Ten is not a bad as everyone is saying. 6-7 Iowa - who's only losses came in league play - lost by *two* to Texas in the Alamo Bowl. SEC West champ Arkansas lost to Wisky. Tennessee - 2nd place to UF in the SEC East - was handled pretty easily by a mediocre Penn State.
Pittman's touchdown run made UF's vaunted speed look ridiculous.
No, the difference in this game was desire and preparedness. The entire game hinged on our inability to run or pass block, and our softness on defense - both things we haven't seen from this team earlier this season.
As for next year, the schedule is a little soft, but we are at Washington - who are usually a middle-tier Pac10 team. And in 2008 the schedule ramps back up again: USC is on the schedule, in LA.
This is all some serious overreacting. I'm as disappointed as any one, but let us try and keep a sense of perspective here, 'k?

however, i think people that defend tressel need some of that sought after "perspective". he cost us last year.
sure, he gets us in a position to win every game, and that is great. but he does something unaccepable every year to screw things up. texas last year was worse than this florida game.
the only year he did not was 2002. and that year we got so lucky on about 10 occassions, and could not win without an actual prisoner. 2002 was the perfect storm of luck, and we may never be so fortunate again.

I think the Ohio State football team bought into the crap the media fed them all year long. ESPN's Herbstreet looked physically ill after the game. Ohio State has some fine athletes, but they never had a schedule to really test them. Michigan too was highly overrated. How could the BCS rate them 1 and 2? When USC trounced Michigan in the Rose Bowl, it became evident that the Gators would do the same in the national championship game.
