Republican Presidential-hopeful, Mitt Romney held a fundraiser for a Democratic Senate candidate in 1992. That will be tough to explain to GOP primary voters.
As readers are aware, I think Bush should face manslaughter charges for his handling of Katrina. Well, his Tuesday performance driving a Caterpillar tractor was nearly cause for more manslaughter charges - Bush recklessly used the tractor, as members of the media were watching, in harm's way.
If the Suns were going to have their 18-game winning streak snapped, I am glad it was to the Timberwolves. Kevin Garnett played the best I have ever seen from him (44 and 11). Ricky Davis added 17. Mark Madsen played 26 minutes (possibly a career high), scoring 6 points and leading the Minnesota defense. It was a great game. The Suns 5 game road trip was just too much.

After a brief holdup by Republicans, the minimum wage hike has overcome a possible filibuster. It should reach a final Senate vote (and approval) soon.
That said, prior to this vote, there was a non-reported Republican minimum wage proposal. Senator Allard (R-CO) basically proposed abolishing the federal minimum wage. 28 Republicans supported this absurd measure. John McCain voted for the destroying the federal minimum wage. Of course, McCain will now vote to raise the federal minimum wage - but only because it is politically popular. I cannot stand that fraudulent, ugly old man.
Finally, we all know about Bush's homicidal decision to send more troops to Iraq, despite opposition of 70% of Americans and Congress. Here is probably the worst part: the American troops will be sent without adequate "vehicles, armor kits and other equipment." How does a Bush supporter sleep at night?

Back to Romney: Showing he is a good Republican, he is hillariously hypocritical. Despite being a faithful basher of illegals, Romney actually had illegals work on his yard.
Chuck... I often find half of Terror's and your posts boarding on coast to coast AM chatter and X-files conspiracy.. but one thing I do appreciate.. your love for Ricky D!
For those that have posted here in the past about the CAVS... you know the ship is in trouble when the coach says one thing and the star says another...
-DM
at least the suns beat the cavs on ABC and the cavs werent the ones who ended the streak.
Glad I can bond with conservatives on something.
A bad team like the Cavs could not be expected to compete with the Suns.
Either way, I am keeping my Cavs talk to a minimum. I don't see much of them, this being my first year of no League Pass. They seem pretty up and down, so its hard to tell what will happen with them. I do know, though, that if Cleveland was in the West, they would miss the playoffs.
the cavs played well against the suns. they were well within range for most of the game. this with lebron playing on a bum foot. however, mike brown is terrible. he tried to change the offense and keep the ball from Z which has blown up in his face. larry hughes doesn't belong in the nba i think he missed 12 shots in a row on sunday. tonights game was great they killed golden state by 25. gibson had his first start and was great. Z had many touches early on. bread and butter for the cavs offense last year. oh well, we shall see what happens. GO CAVS!
D
if they were in the west, 7 seed at best.
of course they killed GS tonight - lebron was hurt and didnt play and they are like 8-2 when he doesnt play and hog the ball and not play defense.
McCain is an 'ugly old man'. funny.
All this discussion is great, but I would love to hear someone justify their ability to sleep, knowing that BUSH IS SENDING KIDS TO IRAQ WITHOUT FULL EQUIPMENT!
Henry Kissinger once said that "Military men are dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy."
Using that mindset, Bush sees no reason to squander money on body armor.
And as Bush said recently, he sleeps remarkably well.
It gets worse. No money for body armor but this in from AP:
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The U.S. government wasted tens of millions of dollars in Iraq reconstruction aid, including scores of unaccounted-for weapons and a never-used camp for housing police trainers with an Olympic-size swimming pool, investigators say.
Bush supporters sleep like babies -just after counting all the GOLDEN sheep trotting by & by into their supporters Swiss bank accounts.
Its much better to be poor, humble and HAVE principles
War is a lucrative business & its THEIR BUSINESS!
They sleep just fine. I dont think a normal, principled Human is able to even comprehend or even imagine the psyche of greed
I thank God, I can't
I like to imagine the afterlife for our leaders:
Heaven with streets built by Seabees and guarded by US Marines...and Bush, Cheney and the cast of their gumbas being sent there for eternity.
An eternal ass kickin for wasting comrades in arms.
i think we should send him on the tip of one of those bombs
I think this is more whining. The troops are getting everything they need.
Ya - getting everything they need
======>BLOWN UP
Here is probably the worst part: the American troops will be sent without adequate "vehicles, armor kits and other equipment." How does a Bush supporter sleep at night?
How do you sleep when your Democrats in Congress threaten to cut off funding? Armor doesn't fall off trees. From MSNBC...
A day before President Bush is to address the nation on Iraq, congressional Democrats moved Tuesday to pre-empt his plan to send thousands more troops to Baghdad by denying him the money to pay for it.
Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., took the opening shot in the first head-to-head confrontation between the president and the newly Democratic Congress, proposing legislation that would bar funding for new troops.
Ya know...instead of whining and crying, working together as a team would make so much more sense when it comes to Iraq. But then you DO have Pelosi who claims they WON'T cut off funding to the troops, which may disappoint a lot of liberals who thought a Democratically controled Congress would be a panacea that would bring the troops home tomorrow.
hey russ. news flash 70% of americans are against it. i guess that's just the liberals. you have such a scewed view of how things really work. if by "working as a team" you mean listen to the president and his growing radical, defiant acts of the will of the public, which he works for. i think bush is a radical and needs to be removed before he gets us all killed.
so, you watch msnbc? you must have seen the special report on how the president lied about stopping terror plots in his state of the union? oh, i guess you only point ot things that help your own views. much like the weak global warming arguement. look who's having hearings on that now russ. also, what about the new stories of the white house bullying scientist into taking the terms global warming and climate change out of their reports. you must have not heard about all that. huh?
D
C'mon Russ it's as much about how you spend the money as it is the amount of dollars spent.
Either you missed this in my earlier post or you are ignoring it.
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The U.S. government wasted tens of millions of dollars in Iraq reconstruction aid, including scores of unaccounted-for weapons and a never-used camp for housing police trainers with an Olympic-size swimming pool, investigators say.
It's my guess "tens of millions of dollars" would have bought quite a bit of body armor.
anonymous, you are a loser.
russ, i am glad you know how to italicize text. that is probably your best quality.
i will repeat. 2007 is funded. so the debate on funding is for 2008.
the reason bush is sending troops without the full armor is because: 1) his "plan" is rushed and 2) he wants to do the war on the cheap.
whatever, russ. you are an uninformed person that can evidently sleep at night, despite supporting W. i don't need to deal with your kind.
that said, russ, feel free to comment on the site. email us if you would like to take over the site for a thursday. i am just saying that i dont want to spend a lot of time dealing with your off-base comments.
Chuck, they voted to allow states to determine their own minimum wages - which over the half the states do already. There is no reason to have the federal minimum wage - each state should just set their own since wages aer worth significantly more/less depending on where you live. We even have a city minimum wage here that goes above and beyond our state minimum wage. I am completely fine with state legislatuers or state voters determining what is right for them vs. some arbitrary number coming from Washington.
mike, that's your opinion. i disagree. states like mississippi need to have their hand forced, in my opinion.
but that debate was not my point.
John McCain (and about 2/3 of GOP senators) voted to ELIMINATE the federal minimum wage (presumably for the same reason you assert).
But then these frauds (led by McCain) will then vote FOR raising the wage, because it is politically popular.
McCain & Co. are FRAUDS.
I'm fine with your point about hack politics like McCain voting to end fed min wage and then to raise it; similar to why I also don't liek HRC for the same basic set of reasons.
States like Miss. may be the only reason I don't completely disagree on at least some form of minimum wage. I just don't think it is necessary or useful anymore for the most part and I think we waste a lot of time hearing about ti for something that affects very few (relatively speaking). To me having the fed min wage is akin to determining the football national championship based on who socred the most points all year. The games were all played in different paces, by different teams and against different teams; just like different people work for very different companies in vaious parts of the country with vastly different pay scales and costs of living. Like I said though, I can at least respect you difference of opinion, regardless of it being mostly wrong.
i get what you are saying. that is why you have to be reasonable, and not raise the national standard to the CA standard. $10/hr makes sense in a lot of places, but not in some.
but a bare minimum basement for all states is needed. because places like mississippi, or LA, or alabama do exist. and with so many overly vulnerable people, i feel they could be exploited too much. the feds need to protect them.
and i don't think we are really disagreeing.
and we'll debate hillary later.
states rights vs. federal control
IT USED TO BE SO SIMPLE conservaives for states and libs. for fed. Now it all depends on the issue and the constituion be dammned. Speaking of which do you folks think the assinging House of Reps seats to the various territories in the House(yes, I know they do not vote on the final up or down) is in line with the constitution or another game to increase on sides power?
Ricky D.- dont know where to start.
Chuck,
I would love to do a piece some Thr. on the new tryanny--tryanny of the left. I spent years fearing the tryanny of the right and got blindsided
First salvo: to quote a Northwestern student concerning the Muslims request for a prayer area at the stadium, "the main issue is not the muslims prayer request but rather our need to support diversity at all times"
A lint-headed college student supports diversity and that's the tyranny of the Left ? That's not a salvo, that's a Fox News teaser before the commercial break now that the "The War On Christmas" is over.
If giving Muslims a place to pray is tyranny, then what do you call suspending the writ of habeas corpus and due process, and engaging in illegal wiretaps and torture ?
You know if you worked a little harder to get into the paint, you might sink a few more buckets.
Chuck - I italicize to make reading some of my winded comments more easy to read, much like you change colors in your posts. Well that, and to stress certain words to help the reader hear what I am writing...stressing certain words can convey a whole different feeling.
And while I truly appreciate the compliment, my best qualities are actually my rapier wit and my butt, although if you asked my Highland Square girlfriend *gasp* she might say my best quality is my ability to debate and consider not only other peoples' opinions, but their feelings as well...something that seems to get lost on this site. I can deal with an attack on an idea or belief, but is it really necessary, or constructive to attack the person making the comment? At times, I feel like I'm in the comments section of the Daily Kos.
And what's with not wanting to deal with me, but then inviting me to write a post for a Red Thursday? That's contradictory. Don't make me start calling you John Kerry, ya freaking flip-flopper.
So...would I write something for your site? Sure. I have a topic in mind that I haven't seen addressed. When will it get done? Nada clue. I'm working on an article for a local mag dealing with female bloggers (it's a woman's arts mag). Speaking of which...if Terra is interested, I'd like to include her in the article. I need three subjects and only have one so far. The article will be about the writer, and not have any of my personal opinions on content injected. It will be complimentary. One thing I can say is the three of you are consistant in your updates.
Mencken...couldn't agree with you more on the way some funds have been blown. Is that a Repulican fault, a Democrat fault, or maybe...just maybe...a government fault.
Later.
Russ, you can't separate "government" from the political components that make it up. As much as we all like to objectify the system, it is made up of real live Republicans, Democrats, and Independants whose votes and decisions are very much on the record. If there was a shortfall of money allocated to body and Humvee armor, then decisions were made to do so, not by the "government", but indisputably by men like Rumsfeld and Cheney who now need to take responsibility for their failed strategy of minimal forces.
Your stance would be much like saying that pedophile priests are the "Church's" problem and not that of the priests who engaged in the abuse.
pedophile priests are the Church's problem, as is their cover-up and protection of them
