I was having trouble posting comments on Bob's post below. So I will speak for myself, and I am sure others: an excellent and accurate story. Well done Bob.

President Bush explained why he thinks the Democrats plan for ending the war in a year is a bad idea: "I'm just envisioning what it would be like to be a young soldier in the middle of Iraq and realizing that politicians have all of the sudden made military determinations. And in my judgment, that would put a kid in harm's way, more so than he or she already is." Re-read that, if you have not fallen over from your spinning head. Seriously, what an absurd statement.

Bush people are now saying the escalation will last into next year. That would mean the "surge" will probably last for about two years. What happened to the "surge" lasting for a few months - not a few years?

Oh, and a bunch of the major reconstruction projects we took on in Iraq are now crumbling. A federal oversight agency randomly examined eight projects that were deemed successes by the Bush folks. Well, 7 of the 8 are no longer working. Another scandalous failure of this administration.

Read here for another absurd/hypocritical Republican scandal. Involves a Bush person getting busted for banging hookers. This very guy has been vigilant with an anti-hooker agenda. If this were a less-scandalous administration (i.e., Clinton) this would be a much bigger headline. But with all the other crap going on, there is barely time to care about this type of disgraceful hypocrisy.

On to a lighter topic. Every basketball fan must love what is happening with the Golden State Warriors/Dallas Mavericks series. Every series has been pretty boring, except for the Warriors series, who are poised to pull of one of the biggest upsets in NBA playoff history (as I type, Dallas is losing in the 2nd half of Game 4).

Also, I never thought I could root for Stephen Jackson after his roll in the Ron Artest/crowd fight. However, he is great in Golden State, and is clearly a catalyst for their potential upset of Dallas. Unfortunately for Jackson and Golden State, he may be unavailable for the 2nd round of the playoffs - Jackson is set for a May 10th trial on felony recklessness charges.

I wonder if war-mongers Bush/Cheney/etc think all these military Generals that support the Democrats plan for Iraq are "anti-troops?"

Tough times for Diop. Other than that, I am pro a Warriors - Raptors final, though not looking good for Toronto

After last night's game, Kenny Smith attributed the Mavericks Game 4 loss to NBA Champion DeSagana Diop getting in foul trouble.

Diop now comes off the bench. The only real change to the Mavs from last year. What a mistake.

the phrase "Champion" before their name is something DeSagana and Darko will always have that LeBron wont. Because they are proven winners at this level.

To address another point here, the story about the Bush Adm. official who was on that list is an embarassment. I guess a ton more of people of both sides are on "the list" which will be played up by ABC News this week.

Unreal. The things Bush says!

Chuck,
Do you remember all those back at Minute Men on Politics who said that history would judge Bush as one of the greatest presidents of all time?

Don't hear that much anymore.

You are right..Lebron will never have Western Conference Champion before his name...Nor will he ever have the stigma of being a One Seed losing to an Eight Seed

diop sucks. he couldn't even play for the cavs when they were terrible. he's always in foul trouble, thats what he does, just disrupts the game for the other team. terrible player

my bad. Dallas was only conference champs. I forgot that Dwayne Wade was led his team to an NBA championship this year.

and thanks for the stat lines anonymous. proves how the Mavs hurt when Diop is not on the court

and I guess you are claiming to know more about the NBA than Kenny Smith.

I think it is funny how D Wade did this year. He looked really sharp in the postseason with his team-leading 30+ turnovers in 4 games. I know he is hurt, but he still has Shaq. I don't mind you ripping Lebron for certain things, but don't talk about how good other players are when they have a superior team and circumstances. You often say Kobe is the best, but he does not seem able to get the Lakers anywhere without Shaq. Basketball is very clearly a team game and history will determine how Lebron and the Cavs do in the postseason. I do think the Diop stuff is funny because I know (pretty sure) you are kidding. That has been a great series and I would love the Warriors to close it out. We can also hope for the dying Nuggets to get some life back and beatdown the boring ass Spurs also.

Bob, I do remember those days. I would like to say I feel good that I was right, but I am further outraged by the sad Bushies that just run and hide from politics talk now.

Smitty,
1) I now think Nash is the best player in the NBA
2) yes, teammates matter.
3) wade was not close to healthy. and he has arguably less of a supporting cast than Lebron - consider: Shaq didn't even play at the end of games.

Chucker,

I do agree with you on Nash. He is clearly the best player right now and they should take away Dirk's (to be) MVP award before they even give it to him. I think the majority would say the Heat roster is better than the Cavs roster, but that is something that can not be proven either way. I think we can agree that Wade looked pretty bad this postseason though. Keep up the good work on politics as we have almost all-time agreeing on that.
