Cash Totals In; Hilary Camp Shits Self
Totals in primary cash (reports filed yesterday with the Federal Election Commission):#1. Obama - $34,000,000
#2. Clinton - $33,000,000
#3. Edwards - $12,000,000
If Obama can keep up with Hilary in fund raising, he stands a decent chance. If he can pull ahead of her, he will be the 44th President of the United States. I have already donated heavily to his campaign, and am setup for monthly recurring donation, but with my new job I can afford to give more. So...
Every dollar that any Chief Source reader donates to Obama this week, I'll double it. Give $20 and I'll tag on $40 more. Give $100 and I'll tag on $200 more. Just forward me your gift confirmation email at roberthewitt@gmail.com and I'll forward you mine (they contain no credit card or personal info). Then in the comments I will list the running total (Let me know if you'd like to remain anonymous).
I know it seems so early in this race, but now is the time to establish Obama as the man to beat and send a Molotov cocktail of doubt into the Clinton camp. We've seen how the camp of the one-time Republican front-runner, McCain has virtually collapsed...how a small slide in the polls led to a hemorrhaging of support. It now looks like the vicious downward spiral may drive McCain out of the race. Three months ago, this was unthinkable!
Believe it or not, the same can happen if Hilary begins to lag behind Obama in funding or loses her lead in the polls. If the tide turns for even a moment, thanks to high expectations and a lack of likability, Hilary could fall from the sky faster than McCain.
Now is the time to support the candidate you believe in. Check out his site, listen to some of his speeches and see if you don't start to believe again in the possibility of meaningful change.

Oct 17 - 46/45 - McCain +01

Hillary was able to role $10,000,000 from her Senate account into her presidential account. That makes the Obama momentum that much more exciting.
They're OFF & RUNNING....Why do I feel as if this is a horse race and furlongs are Dollars
Save a few bucks for some nights on the town in the CITY...just pretend that THOSE dollars were for the repubs
Bob, great point on McCain and a great proposal by you. I don't know if I count as a chief source reader, but i will forward you my donations anyway.
I'd like to thank our first contributor:
Mr. Kutuchief.
Kyle just donated $20 and I, in turn, donated another $40.
Our running total is now at $60.
Let me super-size your contribution today!
Chuck,
Of course you count, silly.
Forward me your "Thank you for your donation" email and I'll send you mine.
Bob, you kick ass, and you've convinced me to donate. I don't really feel so good about forcing you to donate though, so I think I'll keep my donation to myself.
How about the first one to a BILLION wins.
Jeff, great to hear. Thanks.
Fred, I agree that campaign spending has gotten completely out of control. But real change, on the issue of campaign reform or any other, will never happen until we get a candidate in office who's genuinely committed to reform. I believe Obama is that candidate.
I'd like to thank our third contributor:
Mr. Kozelka.
Chuck just donated $100 and I, in turn, donated another $200.
Our running total is now at $360+
Let's see some non-staff donations now. Any amount, no matter how small does make a big difference. Particularly since the # of individual donors is the Obama camp's most imposing stat.
The day that Obama announces that 500,000 proud Americans have donated, is the day that Hilary melts into the ground like the Wicked Witch of the West.
It's mid-July and he's already approaching 300,000!
This is unrelated, but I still can't believe that David Hasselhoff got a tattoo of Hilary Clinton on his chest.
Don't hassel the hoff Bob.
I'd like to thank our fourth contributor:
Ms. Ellis.
Marie just donated $20 and I, in turn, donated another $40.
Our running total is now at $420+
hey mike,
i started back at the farm today....bastards wouldn't give me my cushy driving job, though.
bob,
wish i could help out but as i mentioned i just started working...
Tim,
Believe it or not it is really worth it to donate just $1. The Obama camp is priding itself on the number of Americans that have donated more so than the amount raised. Just a thought.
bob, your hasselhoff link/story is one of the funnier things on this site.
I'd like to thank our fifth contributor:
Ms. Nock.
Patty just donated $50 and I, in turn, donated another $100.
Our running total is now at $570+
admire your commitment, but NyC is pretty pricey so maybe put a time limit on this deal, even BK limits the $1 whoppers
T-Dawg,
Good call. How about this?
The goal (and cut off) is $1000.
To reach this I need just $144 more from TCS readers.
Just saw this on CNN:
TOTAL CONTRIBUTIONS to date
(in millions)
Obama $58.6
Clinton $53.1
Romney $35
Giuliani $33.5
McCain $25
Edwards $23.1
I think the bigger story (more than money) is the "buzz" that Obama has created in not being such a typical media hog. Obama CREATES news. He talks about it in his book that his whole goal is to do things that are newsworthy, rather than paying for TV ads.
I consider myself pretty much of a moderate and Obama appeals to me. He appeals to everyone who is sick and tired of post-Nixon American politics. I am willing to give Obama a chance because, not only is he better than the others, but he has fresh ideas about how to repair a fundamentally flawed American system.
Glad to find some fellow Obama supporters :)
