TCS raises $600 for Obama

Sorry Jeff, but I love nice round numbers...moments ago I donated another $20 to Obama (assuming your unspecified donation last week was no less than $10). With this last donation, our grand total is firmly at six hundred dollars!
I'd like to thank the Chief Source readers who stepped up to the plate and donated to the Obama campaign. These mini-drives amongst pockets of concerned Americans are exactly what's going to get us a candidate on the ballot that's beholden to the people and not big fill-in-the-blank.
Obama in '08!
P.S. Be sure not to miss the final showdown between Mr. Sloat and I, now buried at the bottom of the Larry King Must Die!* thread.

I read it. Sounds like the same rationale Ann Coulter uses everytime she says something "inappropriate".
Or is she just joking?
Who can tell the difference?
Does she really think Edwards is a fag? When she says someone "named B. Hussein Obama should avoid using "hijack" and "religion" in the same sentence". She's just being cute, right ?
After all, she's not really a journalist.
Bloggers have diplomatic immunity.... correct ?
A black man hanging dead by his neck.... why that's even funnier than a man dying of cancer.
But hearing it from Coulter... well that's her sthick. It's sells books. Keeps her on The Chris Matthews' show. Same with O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Savage, etc. But It doesn't elevate the conversation.
When the Right does it, I'm not surprised.
When the CS does it, then I'm disappointed.
Mencken, I agree. I did not think the picture with cross hairs on Larry King and the headline "Larry King must die" was in good taste. It sits in a gray area of shtick that makes me uncomfortable. I raised these concerns privately with Bob. We had a good discussion on the matter. I have refrained from commenting on the site until now hoping that the issue would fade into obscurity in the archives. "Kyle, how is that strategy going?" Not well.
In order for me to keep Chuck, Bob, and I together as a team on this site I have to respect their right to say what they want. If I don't respect that then they will eventually quit under my tyranny, and I really don't want that. Plus, maybe I'm boring and I just don't get it.
I respectfully voice my dissent on this matter so that our readers know where I stand.
Bob, thank you for your fund raising efforts for Obama.
great work bob!
(that was for the Obama money - not a sarcastic thing about the infamous "bill sloat" controversy.
Kyle,
Last comment, I promise...
Menk,
You have a point...if you're disappointed in me or TCS for running such an inflammatory piece I understand.
But when you first laid into me it wasn't: "Bob, don't be so offensive" It was: "Bob, don't mess with Sloat, his pieces are spot on."
And had Sloat criticized me for simply being offensive, I might have agreed. However, his decision to report my post as a legitimate threat, a Fatwa-like criminal act, an honest-to-God call to violence was TOTALLY disingenuous.
This is the issue, Menk.
I guess I can only hope you've saved some of that disappointment for Sloat's seasoned spin.
Inflammatory I don't have much problem with.
That's pretty much the backbone of any political blog. I'm just suggesting that before you post a violent graphic, turn it around and ask yourself hoiw you would react if you saw a crosshair on Obama's forehead posted on a right-wing site with the caption "Obama, the next MLK?"
Violence begets violence.
Slurs beget slurs.
You can post whatever you like.
I can leave or I can stay.
I'm just asking you to reflect.
A point:
Other than having some fun yanking chains, I think we all would agree that our writings are an attempt (veiled or sometimes obscured - i reckon) to improve something that we are concerned about. & if we have some bright idea about how to fix a problem - we wish to share, debate and possibly build a better way.
But----violent innuendo tends to alienate and , in my opinion, does nothing positive.
I thinK Bill Sloat is who I used to read in the Plain Dealer.??? If its the same guy, hes not a monster or anything like that. I dont think he will call in the thoght police or anything like that
He retired when the PD "downsized" a while back.
I just love that term "Downsize"...next on my list is "supersize"...does everyone these days think its wrong to STAY the same size?
