Carville Compares Richardson To Judas
The scorched earth tactics of team Clinton on the Democratic Party continue. Over the weekend (one of my favorite Democrats) James Cavrville said of Bill Richardson: "Mr. Richardson's endorsement [of Obama] came right around the anniversary of the day when Judas sold out for 30 pieces of silver, so I think the timing is appropriate." The clip shows Richardson's response.
Who was Judas Iscariot? When I have questions of faith, I turn to Wikipedia: According to the account given in the Gospel of John, he carried the disciples' money bag and betrayed Jesus for a bribe of "thirty pieces of silver" by identifying him with a kiss - "the kiss of Judas" - to arresting soldiers of the High Priest Caiaphas, who then turned Jesus over to Pontius Pilate's soldiers.
WOW! Clearly Carville, who is on the Clinton payroll and serves as an official campaign surrogate, did some research after the Richardson endorsement and prepared this talking point as a response. The severity of the analogy shows how important the Richardson endorsement was within the Democratic Party. It also shows that team Clinton thought they had it wrapped up. Since Richardson endorsed someone else, they send James Carville out to trash him. It is just scorched earth politics. If we can't have Richardson, then we'll burn him and move on.
Unrelated: In Summit County GOP news, Kevin Coughlin is expected to announce his candidate to be the next chairman of the Summit County Republican Party tomorrow. Ben has a great post up on some of the some of the bad blood Alex Arshinkoff has generated within the Republican Party. This is going to be a brutal local battle and really fun for us Democrats to watch.

Kyle-
Great post. To those who doubt the importance of endorsements, this clearly demonstrates how significant this was to the candidates. I thought the Clinton camp's response (although they had no other choice than to down play it) to Richardson's endorsement was hilarious. According to Richardson, his phone call with HRC was "heated". A few hours later, her campaign was sloughing it off as insignificant.
I also wanted to add that I am truly a fan of James Carville who is especially disappointed by his remarks. I think I have have read every book he has written because I like his insight into political campaigns and proper rapid response. He writes about how proud Democrats should be of their party. That is why I am confused that he would go after Bill Richardson in this way. Richardson is one of our rising stars regardless of who he endorses for President and we need him for the long haul.
The only thing more disgusting was former President Clinton's remarks insinuating that Obama was not patriotic. He is such an idiot who would be best served to keep his mouth shut.
The Clinton camp is trying to make a big deal of McPeevey's comments, yet I completely agree with them. Even as much as you Dems loved Bill, I think this campaign has revealed the stark contrast when Obama is not only compared to Bush and HRC, but also President Clinton himself.
obama promised him VP-too bad his own state prefers hillary
Another comical thing that hopefully gets exposed is HRC claiming she was in threat of getting snipered (is that a word?) when she was in Bosnia (or somewhere). The reality, however, is that she was under no such threat and, as usual, she is guilty of exaggerating her involvement in Bill's tenure (exaggerating the positive and distancing herself from the negative of course; because obviously you can have it both ways).
I'm sorry, but I have to address something from a previous post in response to the idiocy of Petey and Anonymous.
In response to me saying that there have been 0 incidents of CCW holders illegally using firearms in road-rage incidents, both Anon and Petey provided links to refute my statistics.
Anon: I think you need to read more clearly. Your article is about an "alleged" attack. "Alleged" means that something possibly happened, but by no means definitely happened. However, if this "alleged" turns into "guilty", then points to you for finding 1 instance of a legally obtained ccw being illegally used in a road-rage incident. Score: incomplete
Petey, you referenced an article that said CCW individuals are more likely to drive more recklessly. Nothing in your article said about a CCW being used illegally in a road rage incident. Please do not twist facts. Score: F-
The exact language...
"Let's be clear on what this means-- they're saying that 23% of motorists who carry guns, according to their numbers, were more aggressive while driving, compared to 16% of non-gun carrying drivers being more aggressive while driving. The study says that both gun and non-gun drivers are aggressive at times (because everyone, no matter how slow to anger they are, can get annoyed at traffic), but that those who carry guns were slightly more aggressive.
The statistics are a little hazy, but we do agree with their conclusion, even if it is pretty obvious: if you get in a road rage situation with someone who has a gun in their car, you're much more likely to get shot. The answer, then, is to keep guns out of cars."
This is seriously comical and typical of the way the anti-gun lobby tries to distort the truth.
Carville is married to one of Bush/Cheney's foot soldiers and he's criticizing a Democrat for endorsing a Democrat ? That's like lecturing your kids about drugs while being married to Pablo Escobar.
So what am I missing here? Did you not say this in reference to Ben posting about Alex at The Point?
"Finally, now that the site is being relaunched, I want to make sure that everyone knows that Ben and I are not being muzzled. Ben has agreed not to post on the race for the new Chairman of the Summit County Republican Party and will not be paid until after March 4th because he is a candidate for Central Committee".
Menck: Carville is a Rightie by injection
VP Dick Cheney : Gotta LOVE this guy:
In an exclusive interview with ABC News, Vice President Dick Cheney was asked what effect the grim milestone of at least 4,000 U.S. deaths in the five-year Iraq war might have on the nation.
Noting the burden placed on military families, the vice president said the biggest burden is carried by President George W. Bush, who made the decision to commit US troops to war, and reminded the public that U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan volunteered for duty.
this is off topic, but i want to post it here. i will follow petey's lead and quote someone.
pat buchanan, on his site, wrote this:
"First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known.
Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American."
Ada,
Buchanan??? whatta dupa...and I didnt even mention the Cuyahoga Cty Election Board pitching for voter fraud charges against Rush Limberger.
How about if we get together and just concede that the whole election system , if not the entire Nation is FUBAR ---- just before we check into the "leathercraft and basketweaving" smiling academy.
I kinda hate Olbermann, but his mockery of Clinton claiming she landed in Bosnia under sniper fire is hysterical. She landed with Sinbad.
How anyone can vote for her and all of her deception is befuddling.
PBS is airing an excellent documentary on the Iraq War. Part II is on Tuesday at 9 and the entire series can be seen on pbs.com.
While I am sure some of you will write it off as more liberal propoganda, I thought it did an accurate job of objectively relaying the events as they happened.
There was something tragic about how foolish Colin Powell was made to look and it was surprising how irrelevant Condy Rice was.
Mencken, are you asking me about that quote? If so, what are you looking for me to explain?
It was my understanding that your agreement with the ABJ was that Ben wouldn't post at The Point about Alex or the race. That doesn't seem to be the case now. What changed?
I am still stunned that more people are not making a bigger deal out of HRC's bogus tales about her Bosnia landing. Then again, I guess everyone here hates her anyways, so I supposed it would be stating the obvious.
Where is that moron who scared Sir Robert off? What was his name? I wonder what he is saying about this latest mistake.
Mencken, Ben is no longer on the ballot. His race is over and he lost. Therefore, he is free to discuss the race.
