Richardson to Endorse Obama Today
According to an Obama advisor, and a million other news stories, Gov. Bill Richardson will endorse Sen. Obama this morning at a campaign event in Oregon. I definitely did not see this coming. I had long ago dismissed this endorsement after reading yet another story about Bill Clinton's private meetings with Richardson, who served as energy secretary in the Clinton administration. I am not sure that this endorsement will have a significant impact on the PA primary, but it certainly can't hurt Obama who, as everyone knows, has struggled with the Hispanic voters. In a statement released this morning, Richardson said of Obama "I believe he is the kind of once-in-a-lifetime leader that can bring our nation together and restore America's moral leadership in the world. As a presidential candidate, I know full well Sen. Obama's unique moral ability to inspire the American people to confront our urgent challenges at home and abroad in a spirit of bipartisanship and reconciliation."

I would have thought that Richardson would have endorsed Clinton for sure. Richardson endorsing Obama kind of puts to rest the 3AM ad. Richardson was the most experienced foreign policy candidate we had, with Biden a close second. The decision not to have primaries in Michigan and Florida had to have played a role in the timing of Richardson's announcement.
This is great news!
I'm not a happy girl today.
Yeah who cares. It would have maybe mattered in New Mexico but they already voted in the primary.
what i don't understand is why endorsements even matter.
i don't base a vote on who gets what enodrosements. i couldn't give a shit who richardson endorses. or edwards. or guiliani. or the newspapers.
and so forth.
for me, it is another example of how, at best, we are viewed as sheep...and at worse, actually are sheep.
This endorsement matters because Richardson is a superdelegate. He's got a vote at the convention.
Hey John Edwards... Where are you... why haven't you endorsed yet?
With Bill's track record in foreign policy I dont think I would use that as a plus. But maybe he can get the little monster in N. Korea to endorse Obama(just kidding ).
Ada, other than the fact he is a super delgate I agree with you if anything most of these self- serving politicans endorsements make me view the candidates less favorably.
fred
This is big no matter how you put it...It's sending a message to the superdelegates who will probaly decide this thing to get on the boat.
Ben your blinded by your outlook of Obama to see the impact of this endorsement.
I love the new "anonymous" Obama lover, he sounds a lot like a certain lunatic who specialized in hate mongering & bullying.
Anyways, the actions of Richardson will not have a significant influence
Obama keeps inserting his foot into his mouth! Amazing!
The point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn't. But she is a typical white person who, uh, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know there's a reaction that's been been bred into our experiences that don't go away and that sometimes come out in the wrong way and that's just the nature of race in our society. We have to break through it..." Barack Obama, Philadelphia
Imagine Hillary or McCain saying, "typical black person." Al Sharpton would have a stroke just thinking about the turmoil he could stir up!
Even the folks at the HufPo got pissed at this comment.
I don't know what's more troubling the Wright/Obama flap, or the circle jerk that's surrounds it.
Meanwhile Joe Lieberman has had to correct John McCain on foreign policy points three times. He's
a better caddy than Stevie Williams.
No I'm not Chuck... love the new TCS...
