New Staff Member Greg

I am proud to announce that Greg Milo will be joining The Chief Source staff as a contributor very soon. Greg is a fellow Akron resident and has written several guest posts for us over the past few months. He's a guy uniquely in tune with what is happening here in Akron who will bring a fresh perspective through the his lens and written observations. Look for his first post very soon.
As part of his official orientation, I went over to Greg's house last night to shoot a couple of introductory pictures and have him sign paperwork for his health insurance, 401K, ect. Greg is a dog lover and Kimse was quite cooperative as I got things set up and Greg settled down in his fire pit for a few pictures. There was still enough late day light to snap a few shots wide open. I liked this one with his hair up Kramer style. From a composition standpoint, do you find the plant distracting or does it add to the picture? I put it in there intentionally when I was snapping, but after editing the picture I considered taking it out with the patch tool. In the end, I thought it was a good distraction. Let me know your thoughts.
We'll be making official updates to the site over the weekend. Have a fantastic holiday.

I could see how some might find the plant distracting but I like it.
Welcome aboard Greg.
Good deal -- I liked Greg's pix of Budapest and such.
I know zip about photography, but I find the plant a little distracting. Maybe if it were further in the back?
Keep up the good work, gents, I dig the blog, especially when you feature local sites.
Even though it's SO red, the plant adds a nice contrast.
Now, if you guess which has been sprinkled with miracle grow, the flower or the hair, you win a Chief Source flower pot.
Welcome Greg. Kyle - I don't mind the flower.
Dave, we hope to have more Akron related posts. Thanks for the kind words.
As for the flower, I need to be more mindful of less distracting backgrounds in general. Thanks all for the feedback.
The one thing I might do is tone it down a bit ala Mencken's advice from the The Red Hat post.
I've enjoyed your pics so far, Greg. I'm excited to see what you can add to the site.
Kyle - I think the plant is a bit distracting, but I don't mind that. I'm far from an expert, but I know what I like, and what I don't like. My eye wanders a bit to the plant, but Greg is still the main focal point.
I wonder what it would look like with another distraction on the right side of the frame? You know - to balance distractions.
Tim, that is exactly what I thought of and tried turning it down in Photoshop. I figured if I was leaving it in I needed to keep it loud.
Ben, good suggestion on balance.
This is so funny. You guys can't keep your eyes off the flowers. For me, I can't believe the mess on my patio and the crap condition of my fire pit. For the record, I cleaned it up yesterday.
