Akron Marathon 09

On a cool and misty Saturday morning, Kyle and Greg went head-to-head on the 5th leg of the Akron Marathon. Tensions were high following a simultaneous bathroom break. Kyle offered Greg a piece of gum. Greg paused, thinking some alternative motive behind the chivalrous move. After a second thought, Greg took the gum. It would prove disastrous. The constant gum chewing cost Greg 6 minutes--the exact amount Kyle would win by, as Kyle finished the race in 62 minutes, Greg 68.
All in all, the race, as usual, was a success. Akron puts on a great marathon, and the Akron enthusiasm along the trail is fantastic--bands, stereos, clingy percussion instruments played by drunken cheerers and loads of screaming supporters. It's a great form of community fun.
Oh, by the way, Derek Anderson just tackled himself.

Who posts pictures of a race where no one is running?
Kyle pulled that gum trick on me once - sneaky bastard.
Works every time.
Late bathroom break -- that must be why I was standing there waiting for my buddy's relay team and the two of you whipped past me to get to your corrals. You can blame the gum if you wish, but I blame the knitted winter hat.
