Gorillapod

A Joby Gorillapod has been on my list of accessories to purchase for a while. It is a small, lightweight, bendable tripod which I'll use to mount either my camera or a flash. Watch this short clip from B&H to see how it works.
Like most people who purchase a Gorillapod, the first thing I wanted to do was mount my camera in my car and do a long exposure images with an off camera flash. I got the idea from a post titled Make Your Own Cadillac Commercial on a blog I follow called Digital Photography School. In their post, they mount the camera on the side view mirror of the car and drive through a tunnel. Since my Gorillapod is new, I don't quite trust my ability to use it for something that daring. So, I stuck to mounting it inside the car with a wide angle lens. The photo is a 4 second exposure, f/5.6, 200 iso, with the flash at 1/8 power manually triggered in my right hand. Here is another shot that helps illustrate the process.

Maybe your best shot yet.
You stayed incredibly still for a four scond exposure.
Also, there should be a disclosure on this pic. One of those, "don't try this at home dealies." We don't want The Chief Source to be responsible for any auto-photographic mishaps.
Kyle-
Its been on my list for a while now. After seeing this fun shot, I am sold. Great pic.
BenW, because the only light hitting Kyle was the flash, he didn't need to hold that still. There was no ambient light hitting him during that 4 secs to cause a blur.
Thanks Mencken. I'd like to shoot one of someone else driving so I can better position the camera and flash. I'd like to have less car ceiling and more window blur. I cropped the shot to try to improve the ratio. This shot was more to try the technique.
BenW, maybe we'll make a Christmas Ale run on the way to play foose. You drive, I'll shoot.
Mencken, that makes complete sense.
Kyle, it's foos/crazy-in-car-pic time.
I'll see your Christmas Ale, and raise you a bourbon nog. Just try it.
I'll try it. I'll probably need a high nog to bourbon ratio.
